Having some photoshop fun with one of the best sunset pics I've ever taken. This was at Susie's Plantation, one of the few places to stay on Taveuni, Fiji's third largest island. Don't be fooled by that ranking though, Taveuni is pretty far off the beaten track, even for Fiji. The water you see there has THE BEST snorkelling I have ever seen. 5 metres deep, all kinds of coral, and endless sea life. The 5 meter shelf goes out about 20 metres, and then drops off to a spectacular wall dive. Just 15 minutes by boat is the famous White Wall at Rainbow Reef. That was the purpose of my trip to Taveuni, and it was well worth it. That site is commonly listed amongst the top ten in the world, and for good reason. When the tide changes, you approach the reef from one side, swim through a gap to the other side and you're in a 1.5 kilometre drift dive along a reef of all white coral. That's right, all white. Something about the tide changes causes this effect and its incredible. To one side is this amazing wall, and to the other is nothing but blue. You don't have to move a muscle, just maintain buoyancy and enjoy the show. I did most of the dive in an upright position, almost like I was standing up. Sadly I didn't own an underwater camera then, so I have to settle with surface pics and great memories. If you ever have even the smallest chance of diving here, hit it up.
